Go w/Airflow on this Q. He hit the nail on the head!

Dependin’ on just how much water your talkin’ about, we have a Hummin’bird Matrix 20 and purchased a cover (link) for it. The amount of water that be splashin’ should not be enough to hurt it (w/ cover)! Now if ya’ be throwin’ a lot of water I would think you’d have it comin’ over the Gunwhales (boats sides) and findin’ refuge in the bottom of your Tinny’s hull (absolutly NO pun intended :)). Hope I may have helped ya’ a bit ;)…

The hummingbirds Are designed to resist water intrusion, as are the rest of the fish finders & it will take a good amount of vibration, just like other fish finders.
A lot, depends on personal preference & how much money that you want to spend

It depends on the model, most are water resistant to about 10 meters some further, if you really want a waterproof fish finder go for Lowrance, those things will function in up to 100 feet of water, its advisable not to put it somewhere you know its going to get wet as nothing is fully waterproof, try to put it in a sheltered place, contact hummin bird if you need advicehttp://www.humminbird.com/flashHome.asp?…
