Do Inexpensive Fishfinders Work?

I’m looking into buying a fishing finder that i can just stick in the water and hope to find big fish. Being 16 I don’t have enough money for a really expensive one. I have been looking around and i saw some from 70-150 dollars. I am wondering if they accurately display fish positions? Like i know the more expensive ones are more detailed but is it worth even getting a inexpensive one or just trying my luck?

I have a portable Eagle Cuda 168 that runs on AA batteries. I like it, the sensor has suction cups. I fish an electric only lake and rent a john boat. I attach to the sensor to my trolling motor with zip ties and it works good. Temperature and structure are displayed accurately. I have seen the Portable Cuda 168 on Ebay for $115 and the Cuda 242 portable for $120. I think eagle has stopped making these portable units and I am not aware of the difference. They no longer appear in Bass Pro Shops website or catalogs.I dig it and it help me catch fish
